A Curated Reading List
This is my personally curated collection of books designed for intellectually curious young readers from 6 to 17 years old. As a parent who went through a rigorous reading journey as a child, I've hand-selected each title on this list to create a comprehensive reading journey that respects a child's intellectual capacity while nurturing their cognitive development.
Children benefit from exposure to complex narratives and sophisticated themes, they simply learn best when challenged just beyond their current abilities. This collection embraces that principle.
By removing artificial age barriers while maintaining thoughtful progression, we can allow young minds to explore human experiences, ethical dilemmas, and complex emotions through literature.
How to Use This List: While organised by suggested starting ages, these are guidelines based on cognitive complexity as perceived by me, rather than content restrictions. Make sure you are also acquainted with the books, and use them as springboards for discussions about ethics, history, human nature, and the complexities of our world. The goal is to develop critical thinking and wisdom alongside a natural appreciation for worldbuilding and literature.
